Wayanad is a hill station in Kerala. Located at the distance of about 280 km from Bangalore. The place is famous for scenery beauty and pleasant weather. The major plantation in Wayanad is Tea, coffee, pepper, cardamom, and rubber. Wayanad district is drained by kabani and its three tributaries, the Panamaram, Mananthavady, and kalindy river. The Banasura Sagar Dam is built on one of the tributes of the kabani River.
Best Time to visit Wayanad Kerala
The best time to visit Wayanad Kerala is during the winter. It becomes hot and humid during the month of the summer season. Monsoor is severe in this region and hence it would be difficult to see this places and it would be difficult to see the place even through the scenic beauty is at its peak during this month.
How to reach Wayanad Kerala
We started our journey at 4 am by Cab. It was a pleasant journey of (Wayanad Kerala )and we are also able to see a beautiful scenic view. The shortest route to reach Wayanad is by using NH 275 AND NH 212. We have passed through Mysore and it contains tool boots and we reach Wayanad at around 11:30 am. First of all, we went to hotel orchid.
Place to visit Wayanad Kerela
1- Banasura Sagar Dam- Firstly the Banasura Sagar Dam is one of the largest dams in India and the second largest of it kind in Asia. The dam is made up of massive stacks of stones and boulders. Secondly,this dam is constructed on the tribute of the Kabin river flowing from Karnataka int Wayanad. This place has boating option too and if you are planning to visit boating is must do the activity to do in this place. This place has small outlets like fish spa and horse ride is also there. After that, we have driven the beautiful roads of Wayanad we decided to call a day.
Chembra peak- Furthermore you love soothing natural beauty and love to adventure then Chembra peak is the perfect place. It is 8 km far from kelepetta. This peak is around 10 km from kalpetta therefore great spot of tracking and the trek is not too difficult. There is small entry fee where you have to deposit plastic bottle you have carried. The tracking allow in between 7 am to 2 pm and one has to return back by 5 pm. From the top, you can get a glimpse of Wayanad and Kodaikanal.
Chembra peak is one of the tallest mountain peaks in Wayanad, which is 2,100 meters above the main sea level.
Puliyarmala Church- It is Religious center Latin Catholic Church which is called Our Lady of Lourdes and was constructed by a french priest in 1908. .An annual function is organized by the church in the month of February which attracted several visitors of Wayanad.
Tea Estates,Pookode Lake & Lakkidi viewpoint-Hear is some beautiful tea plantation which we encountered on the way and Pookode lake and Lakkidi viewpoint.You get an awesome view of the valley but ensure that you visit in morning or afternoon as the fog may hide the mountain views.
Edakkal Caves- The Edakkal caves feature a crevice of around 96 feet in length and 22 feet in depth. There is also a fissure and rock wall feature carving of animal and human of the prehistoric period.these are carving of a king,queen etc. The place is of great archeological significant and there are many guidance inside the caves who explain the stone carvings and give you a quick history lesson.So don’t forget to visit this place I can say it is must visit place in Wayanad.
Caves are around 25 km from kalpetta and around 3 km from Ambalavayal.the tracking a trail of these ancient caves from Edakkal caves extend about 1 km.these caves can be best visited in the morning .
Finally, the Wayanad (Kerala) the last place we visited is Kanthapara waterfall similar to Iruppa waterfall fall. Therefore, it is good picnic spot is Kerala. Because road leading this fall is very narrow hence it is advisable to hire vehicles instead of taking your own vehicles.In short, the best place to visit with family & friends.
